Joe Paterno, with a record 401 wins entering his 45th year as the head coach at Penn State, stumbled on Wednesday when talking about the conference’s expansion and two-division format this fall.
He referred to the conference as the Big 12 before laughing and pointing out that he was at least partially right since the Big Ten now has a dozen teams.
Adding Nebraska, playing in the new Leaders division, introducing a conference championship and Ohio State’s NCAA troubles and suspensions are enough to discombobulate anyone – including an iconic 84-year-old coach.
