Cameron, LSU a perfect fit

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - New LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron says this is a ``special time'' for him and his family as the longtime NFL coach returns to the college ranks to re-join old friend Les Miles.

Cameron also says he sees no reason to overhaul the Tigers' offense, which does many things well. His plan is to build on that by working with quarterbacks and tailoring play calling to their strengths.

Cameron says LSU's current quarterback, Zach Mettenberger, is a major talent whom NFL scouts started watching several years ago, and that he wants Mettenberger's take on what works best.

Cameron and Miles were assistants together under Bo Schembechler at Michigan early in their careers, and Cameron stood at Miles' wedding.

Cameron became available when the Baltimore Ravens fired him in early December.
