Alabama earns top recruiting class
TUSCALOOSA, AL (TheSpread) – Alabama may not have won a national championship this season, but it didn’t stop the Crimson Tide from having the country’s best recruiting class on Wednesday.
Wednesday marked National Signing Day around the country and after all the commitments rolled in, ESPN ranked Alabama with this year’s top class. They finished just ahead of Florida State at No. 2, while USC was third, Clemson was fourth and Tennessee rounded out the top five.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Alabama currently has 9/1 odds to win the 2016 College Football Playoffs. Ohio State is favored to repeat as champs with 5/1 odds while TCU joins Alabama with 9/1 odds to win the title.

Alabama landed a number of big recruits, including three five-star kids and 19 in the ESPN top 300. Leading the back is five-star cornerback Kendall Sheffield, five-star quarterback Blake Barnett and five-star athlete Bo Scarbrough. Alabama is coming off a 12-2 season where it went 7-1 in the SEC, claiming the conference title. The Tide were eliminated by eventual champ Ohio State in the college football playoff semifinals.
