Irish make big jump in AP Poll
SOUTH BEND, IN (TheSpread) – The Notre Dame men’s basketball team made as big of a jump as any team in this week’s AP Poll. Are the Irish real contenders this season?
Thanks to a 10-1 start to the season, Notre Dame moved from No. 25 to No. 21 in this week’s AP poll, which was released on Monday. The Irish had a strong week last week, starting ACC play with an 83-63 win over Florida State. The Irish also own a win over Michigan State and UMass this season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Notre Dame now has 100/1 odds to win the 2015 National Championship. The Irish came into this season with 150/1 odds to claim the title, but as you can see, the odds are dropping dramatically.
Despite the 10-1 start, Notre Dame is just 2-2 against the spread, which means the Irish are somewhat untested. The last national championship Notre Dame can make claim to was in 1936. They have never won the NCAA Tournament and their last Final Four appearance came back in 1978.
