The 2011 NCAA Championship Game takes place from Reliant Stadium in Houston. The game features Butler taking on Connecticut at 9:23PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com Connecticut comes into the game as a 3.5-point favorite against Butler. The over/under total has been set at 128.5 points.
Over 21,350 public bets have been placed on the national championship game and the majority of wagers are going with the upset-minded Butler Bulldogs. 62% of the public wagers have been placed on Butler at +3.5 against Connecticut.
Typically the public has been backing the underdog in most of the big games this tournament due to all the upsets. Even in the national semifinals, the public backed the two underdogs, VCU and Connecticut.
For Monday night’s game, both teams are tough defensively which should lead to a low-scoring and competitive game. Butler has had three of their tournament games decided by 3 points or less while the other two were decided by no more than 8 points. The Huskies have won their last three tournament games by single digits, including a win by 2 points in the Elite Eight and a 1-point win in the semifinals.
This is the first-ever meeting between these two programs as well, so neither team should have a feel how the other is going to operate since neither has experienced it on the floor. That could lead to some sloppy play.
