Kansas is the top seed in the region and the Jayhawks may have looked the most impressive of any team last weekend. It beat No. 16 UC Davis 100-62 and then topped No. 9 Michigan State, 90-70. The Jayhawks face Purdue on Thursday night. Kansas has reached the Final Four 14 times, last doing so in 2012.
Michigan is the seventh seed in the region. The Wolverines defeated No. 10 Oklahoma State 92-91 and then beat No. 2 Louisville, 73-69. U-M has won seven straight games now and playing its best of the season, which is why its likely favored over Oregon and Purdue. Michigan has made the Final Four seven times, last doing so in 2013. Two of those appearances were vacated during the days of the Fab Five. Michigan plays Oregon on Friday.
Purdue is the fourth seed in the Midwest. The Boilermakers defeated No. 13 Vermont, 80-70, and then defeated No. 5 Iowa State, 80-76. Purdue has reached the Final Four twice in program history, last doing so in 1980.
Oregon is the third seed in the region, but at the bottom of the odds list because of an injury to Chris Boucher. Still, the Ducks beat No. 14 Iona, 93-77 and then beat No. 11 Rhode Island, 75-72. Oregon had made the Final Four just one time, which was back in 1939.
