This Tournament is a 13-team single elimination tournament where the top three teams have a bye into the quarterfinals. Each game is played at the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk, Virginia, and the tournament runs from March 11-16. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, N.C. Central is favored to win, as they have 7/4 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Norfolk State (11/4), Morgan State (6/1) and Savannah State (6/1).

N.C. Central is the No. 2 seed in the tournament after going 15-1 in conference play and 22-8 overall. N.C. Central has never won this tournament.

Norfolk State is the No. 1 seed in the tournament as it went a perfect 16-0 in MEAC play. It also was 21-10 on the season. Norfolk State is the defending champion of this tournament, its only MEAC Championship.

Morgan State is the No. 5 seed after going 10-6 in conference play. Morgan State was 14-14 on the season. Morgan State has won this tournament three times, the last coming in 2010.

Savannah State is the No. 4 seed in the tournament, going 11-5 in conference play and 18-13 overall. Savannah State has never won this tournament.
