CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -Southern Illinois guard Wesley Clemmons came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points as the Salukis defeated Western Kentucky 88-78 on Saturday afternoon.
The Salukis (5-5) featured three players in double-digit scoring, including Clemmons, who scored 18 of his points in the second half, and forwards Matt Shaw and Randal Falker, who had 24 and 20 points respectively.
Hilltoppers leading scorer, guard Courtney Lee, had a game-high 30 points and scored 19 of his points in the second half.
Shaw, who also recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, started the game with seven consecutive points as the Salukis opened with a 10-0 run. The Hilltoppers responded with a 14-point run of their own and the game was a back-and-forth battle for the remainder.
Not until late in the second half did SIU open the score, as Clemmons scored 12 points in the last seven minutes.
The Salukis snapped a two-game losing skid and have won for just the second time in the last seven games.
