BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -Bobby Howard scored 20 points to help Montana State overcome a nine-point halftime deficit and beat Cal State-Fullerton 74-60 on Tuesday night.
Divaldo Mbunga added 16 points for the Bobcats (4-3), who trailed by as many as 12 late in the first half and went into the break down 43-34.
Montana State opened the second half with a 15-2 run and took a 49-45 lead with 15:52 to play. The Titans (4-6) closed to within 54-53 with 11:34 to play, but MSU went on a 12-2 run to take a 66-55 lead with 4:36 left. Cal State-Fullerton never posed a threat after that.
Josh Akognon and Aaron Thompson led the Titans with 18 points apiece. Akognon entered the matchup averaging 24.6 points per game.
