NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Former Seton Hall basketball coach Bobby Gonzalez is scheduled to face a shoplifting charge in court in Newark on Friday.
Gonzalez pleaded not guilty to criminal mischief and shoplifting stemming from the incident at a Polo Ralph Lauren store in June.
Authorities say Gonzalez took a satchel worth about $1,400 and removed the security sensor device.
In August, prosecutors offered Gonzalez a deal that would given him probation in exchange for a guilty plea.
Gonzalez was fired in March after Seton Hall lost in the opening round of the NIT. He sued the school over his dismissal and reached a settlement in August.
The Pirates failed to make the NCAA Tournament during Gonzalez’ four years and posted a 66-59 record.
