Terrence Jones and top-ranked Kentucky have been playing games for three weeks. Brandon Knight can only watch his former teammate play.
There was no lockout in college basketball, like the NBA situation that put Knight’s professional career on hold before it even began after he opted to become a one-and-done player for Kentucky. Jones stayed for his sophomore season with the Wildcats, though he too could have been drafted last summer.
For the players who stayed in school, there was no wait to get back on the court.
Ohio State big man Jared Sullinger, North Carolina forward Harrison Barnes and Baylor’s Perry Jones III have been part of their Top 10 teams since full-squad college practices could start seven weeks ago. They were all potential lottery draft picks last summer.
