 HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -R.L. Horton scored 21 points to lead Southern Mississippi to a 112-75 win over Blue Mountain College on Thursday.
Jeremy Wise added 20 points for the Golden Eagles (3-2). The team took a 28-9 lead in just 10 minutes and never looked back.
Wise scored his 20 points in 23 minutes of playing time. He scored 13 points in the first half. The Golden Eagles led 56-32 at halftime.
The Toppers (0-8) were beaten badly inside by the Golden Eagles, which scored 78 points in the paint compared to just 18 from Blue Mountain.
But the Toppers were a bit better from the outside, as they hit 15 3-pointers in the game.
The largest lead of the game for the Golden Eagles was 45 points, at 104-59, in the final minutes of play.
Josh Whitson led Blue Mountain with 23 points, including six 3-pointers while Jon Estes added 10 points.
