NEW YORK (AP) -D.J. Kennedy scored 17 points to lead St. John’s to a 79-44 win over Howard on Saturday.
Paris Horne had 15 points for the Red Storm (3-1), who led 42-18 at halftime. Justin Burrell had 14 points and Kennedy added 13 rebounds.
Kyle Riley, the lone player in double figures for the Bison (1-3), had 11 points.
Kennedy made three 3-pointers during the Storm’s early 15-0 run, helping them to a 19-3 lead in the first half.
St. John’s, which built a 57-27 advantage with 13:19 left, finished with 46-percent shooting from the field. The Bison shot 33 percent.
The Red Storm played without senior swingman Anthony Mason Jr., who will miss the rest of the season because of a torn tendon in his right foot.
Mason, who averaged 18 points, was hurt earlier in the week.
