ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Reserve John Williams scored 12 points and North Carolina-Asheville used 63 percent field goal shooting in the second half to pull away to a 75-35 victory over Brevard Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs (3-0) hit 50 percent of their shots in the first half in running up a 34-19 lead at the break. UNCA got hotter in the second half, hitting 17 of 27 shots for 63 percent.
Playing in its season opener, the Tornados couldn’t find their shooting touch. They hit just seven field goals in each half and shot 23 percent for the game. That includes a 4-for-25 performance from 3-point range.
Reid Augst scored 11 points for the Bulldogs, while Vincent James and Kenny George had 10 apiece.
Jonathan Whitson hit 4-of-14 shots and led Brevard with nine points.
