KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Darius Adams scored 27 points and Indianapolis upset No. 23 Tennessee 79-64 in exhibition game Monday night.
Indianapolis coach Stan Gouard, who played for Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl at Southern Illinois, had his players use Pearl’s trademark style of full-court pressure to force 25 turnovers. The Division II Greyhounds scored 25 points off the takeaways and hit 33 of 40 free throws.
Tennessee lead 40-31 just before halftime, but a free throw by Adams before the break and a layup by Nate Blank after it launched a 16-0 run. A jumper with 11:33 to go by Adrian Moss, who had 20 points, pushed the Greyhounds’ lead to 58-43, and though Tennessee closed the gap late it never recovered.
Cameron Tatum lead the Vols with 15 points, and Tobias Harris added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
