RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -Courtney Fells scored 21 points to lead North Carolina State past Fort Valley State 94-65 in a Thursday exhibition game.
Ben McCauley scored 12 points and Tracy Smith added 10 for the Wolfpack, who put 11 players in the scoring column.
Milton Meadows scored 14 points and Scott Martrez added 12 for the Division II Wildcats, who placed four players in double figures.
North Carolina State never trailed and increased its advantage throughout, leading 50-32 at halftime and by a game-high 33 points late in the second half. The Wolfpack shot 51.6 percent from the floor and connected on seven of 19 3-pointers. The Wildcats outrebounded the Wolfpack 39-35, but committed 27 turnovers.
North Carolina State redshirt freshman Johnny Thomas suffered an ankle sprain late in the first half and didn’t return. Thomas missed last season with a left knee injury sustained before the season.
