Duke’s Kyle Singler is the leading vote-getter on The Associated Press preseason All-America team while North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes is the first freshman selected since voting began 24 years ago.
Jacob Pullen of Kansas State, Jimmer Fredette of BYU and JaJuan Johnson of Purdue are the other members of the team announced Monday.
Singler, who led the Blue Devils to last season’s national championship, received 62 votes from the 65-member national panel that selects the weekly Top 25. Pullen got 53 votes; Fredette received 49, Johnson 46 and Barnes 17.
The 6-foot-8 Barnes, the only non-senior on the team, is considered the top national recruit by most scouting services. He averaged 19.7 points and 8.8 rebounds at Ames (Iowa) High School.
