FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas coach Mike Anderson is hoping for improvement, as well as an NCAA tournament berth, in his second season.
Anderson guided the Razorbacks to an 18-14 record last season in his first year since leaving Missouri. Arkansas was 15-5 before losing nine of its final 12 games and missing the tournament for the fourth straight year.
This season, the Razorbacks return their two leading scorers from last season in junior forward Marshawn Powell and sophomore guard BJ Young. Powell is recovered after missing most of last season with a torn ACL, and expectations are high for Young – who bypassed the NBA draft after averaging 15.3 points per game as a freshman.
Arkansas hosts Sam Houston State on Nov. 9 to begin its season.
