Northwestern
Last season: 20-12, won 20 regular-season games for the first time in school history, lost in first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Nickname: Wildcats.
Coach: Chris Collins.
Conference: Big Ten.
Who’s gone: G Tre Demps, C Alex Olah
Who’s back: G Bryant McIntosh. Junior guard ranked second on the team in scoring (13.8 points) and second in the Big Ten – ninth in the nation – in assists (6.7 per game); F Aaron Falzon. Nailed 63 3-pointers – second most by a Northwestern freshman; F Vic Law. Sophomore forward missed last season because of a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Averaged 7 points, 4.8 rebounds and shot 35.5 percent on 3-pointers as freshman in 2014-15; C Dererk Pardon.
Who’s new: F Rapolas Ivanauskas. The Wildcats will have to wait to see the 6-foot-9 forward, who is expected to miss the season because of a shoulder injury.
The Skinny: Collins appears to have the Wildcats headed in the right direction entering his fourth season. But the big question still lingers. When will Northwestern – the school that hosted the first Final Four in 1939 – make the NCAA Tournament?
