ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico fans will notice quite a facelift at The Pit.
New Mexico’s 44-year-old college basketball arena looks fabulous, from the suites and club seating to the massive video boards and new locker rooms. School officials say it will be ready by Nov. 1 after a nearly two-year renovation that cost $60 million.
Coach Steve Alford says his players are excited to move into “the best venue in college basketball.”
Administrators offered a tour of the facility Thursday for reporters. There’s still plenty of final construction going on, including painting, glass installation and other work. But assistant athletic director Tim Cass says the facility will be ready for the season.
