EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -The Great Lakes Valley Conference says it has banned Southern Indiana’s men’s basketball team from postseason play due to alleged NCAA violations reported by the school.
The ban announced Tuesday covers the GLVC and NCAA tournaments.
The conference said the case is pending NCAA review and involves “five secondary violations, including unethical conduct, extra benefits and impermissible contact.” It said the case involved three players during the 2008-09 academic year.
Coach Rick Herdes resigned and the Screaming Eagles forfeited their entire 2008-09 season in May after two players were declared ineligible and an internal investigation found five alleged NCAA violations by the men’s basketball program.
School officials said the alleged violations involved transportation and school work done for student athletes.
