PHOENIX (AP) – Declaring for the NBA draft is always a dicey proposition for a good chunk of the players who decide to leave early.
This year might be the biggest risk ever.
With the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement set to expire on June 30, the 69 players who have declared for the NBA draft could be leaving school early for jobs that aren’t there.
The NBA’s summer league also could be put on hold, limiting the players’ development even if there isn’t a lockout
Under NCAA rules, underclassmen have until Sunday to withdraw their names and retain their college eligibility.
