RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -Virginia Commonwealth point guard Eric Maynor, the Colonial Athletic Association's player of the year, will return for his senior season with the Rams rather than enter the NBA draft.
The 6-foot-2 Maynor averaged 17.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 2007-08 as the Rams finished 24-8 overall and finished first in the CAA with a 15-3 record. They lost 80-77 to UAB in the opening round of the NIT.
``After discussing things with my family, I have decided I want to stay in school,'' Maynor said Tuesday. ``I'm honored that people think I have the ability to consider a professional career but it is in my best interests to stay. There is a lot more I want to accomplish here.''
