ATHENS, Ga.(AP) -Georgia has a new men’s basketball coach, formally introducing Nevada’s Mark Fox after a whirlwind interview process.
Fox interviewed with athletic director Damon Evans in Atlanta on Thursday and was offered the job a short time later. The new coach agreed to a six-year contract paying $1.3 million a year – a significant increase over Felton’s $760,000 annual salary – and was introduced during a news conference in Athens on Friday.
Felton was fired in January and Pete Herrmann finished out the year as interim coach.
Fox was 123-43 in five seasons at Nevada, winning at least 20 games every year. He reached the NCAA tournament three times, twice reaching the second round.
