HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) – Hofstra has signed first-year coach Mo Cassara to a new five-year contract through the 2015-16 season.
The move was announced Thursday by Hofstra, which finished 21-12 in Cassara’s first season. The Pride were 14-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association, tied for second. Hofstra reached the semifinals of the CAA tournament for the first time since 2006.
Cassara became Hofstra’s 11th coach in May when he replaced Tim Welsh, who resigned less than a month after taking the job.
Before going to Hofstra, Cassara was an assistant coach for four years at Boston College.
