Few people outside Cedar Falls knew much about Northern Iowa’s Ali Farokhmanesh before the NCAA tournament. Now, a nation full of college basketball fans know the fearless shooter who took down two higher seeds.
But he’s not the only rising star in this year’s March of madness.
Shelvin Mack has shot Butler into the round of 16, St. Mary’s big man Omar Samhan has become an unstoppable force – with a ball and his mouth – and Cornell’s Ryan Wittman has turned the tournament into a personal game of H-O-R-S-E.
But what about the established stars?
Some, like Kansas State’s Jacob Pullen and John Wall of Kentucky, have lived up to the hype. Others, like Duke’s Jon Scheyer and Evan Turner of Ohio State, have merely been good.
