GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -Duke and Maryland are the favorites to win this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
The teams shared the regular-season title by finishing with 13 league victories, but the fourth-ranked Blue Devils (26-5) hold the top seed. Duke is defending champion and has won the event eight times in 11 years. Another win gives Mike Krzyzewski’s program a league-record 18th championship, breaking a tie with rival North Carolina.
While Duke and Maryland finished three games ahead of Florida State and Virginia Tech, Terrapins guard Greivis Vasquez called it “an even tournament” and said making it through the weekend will be tough.
The top four seeds have a bye into Friday’s quarterfinals.
