EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -Aamir McCleary scored a game-high 26 points and made six 3-pointers to lead Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville to a 118-75 victory over Oakland City Tuesday night.
McCleary led five Cougars in double digits, including John Edmison with 19, Brandon Dunson with 15, Mark Yelovich with 14 and Aaron Garriott with 11.
The action was close in the first half until SIUE (10-17) took a 33-30 lead with 6:13 left and never looked back. The Cougars took a 53-34 lead into the break and outscored the Mighty Oaks 65-41 in the second half.
The Cougars shot 66.2 percent, compared with 50 percent for the Mighty Oaks, who struggled sinking 3-pointers, going 5-of-22. SIUE sunk 16-of-30 3-point shots.
