WASHINGTON (AP) – Georgetown point guard Chris Wright broke his left hand in a loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday, a potentially serious blow to the Hoyas’ hopes for a deep postseason run.
Wright was hurt with 15:54 remaining in the game when he lost possession in the paint and committed a foul as he reached for the ball. He stayed in the game for another 30 seconds, then had his hand wrapped and returned briefly before sitting for good with about 11 minutes to go.
Coach John Thompson III did not estimate how long Wright might be sidelined. The injury is to the senior’s non-shooting hand.
Wright entered the game averaging 13.6 points, second on the team behind Austin Freeman.
