ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Reid Augst and Matt Dickey scored 21 points apiece and North Carolina-Asheville defeated Coastal Carolina 74-63 Saturday, clinching a home berth in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference tournament.
The Bulldogs (14-14, 10-7) have won five of their last six games, the only loss was a 66-65 defeat to league-leading Radford last Saturday.
The Chanticleers (11-17, 5-11), whose previous seven games came down to a final possession, fell behind 36-23 at halftime and couldn’t recover despite Joseph Harris’ 32 points and 12 rebounds.
The Chanticleers, who defeated the Bulldogs 64-57 on Jan. 19, failed to sweep UNC Asheville for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
Dickey went 7-for-10 from the field, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range. John Williams added 18 points and seven blocks for the Bulldogs, who made 30 of 56 field goals (53.6 percent).
