ATLANTA (AP) -Trae Goldston scored 21 points, including a game-winning 3-pointer with 5 seconds left to give Georgia State a 69-66 win over North Carolina-Wilmington on Saturday.
The Panthers (8-18, 6-9 Colonial Athletic Association) gave up an eight-point lead with 8:11 to play when a Goldston turnover led to Chad Tomko’s 3-pointer. Tomko’s shot sparked a 17-8 run in which he’d hit two more 3-pointers to put the Seahawks (6-21, 3-12) ahead 61-60 with 3:15 left.
The teams stayed close the rest of the way, and Tomko hit his final 3 to tie the score at 66-66 with 32 seconds left. But Joe Dukes, who scored his only points from the floor on a layup for the Panthers’ previous basket, dished it to Goldston in the corner for the game-winning shot.
Leonard Mendez led the Panthers with 22 points.
Tomko paced the Seahawks with 24 points.
