POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -Ryan Schneider and Dejuan Goodwin each scored 17 points, and Marist beat Fairfield 75-66 on Thursday night to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Marist (8-19, 4-11 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) had shot just .293 (36-for-123) from 3-point range in its previous six games, but the Red Foxes broke out of their long-range slump against Fairfield (15-11, 8-7).
Goodwin and Schneider combined to hit nine of 16 from beyond the arc, and the Red Foxes dominated the glass in the opening half, outrebounding Fairfield 24-5 and taking a 39-25 lead into the break.
Two free throws by Alex Vouyoukas gave Marist a commanding 61-41 lead with 8:26 to play, and the Red Foxes held off a late rally by the Stags.
Herbie Allen had 21 points to lead Fairfield, and Mike Evanovich added 18 but made just 2 of 13 from 3-point range.
