PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh freshman forward Cameron Johnson is out for the rest of the year with a shoulder injury.
Coach Jamie Dixon said Friday that Johnson will undergo surgery soon and the team will apply for a medical redshirt.
Johnson, from suburban Pittsburgh, averaged 4.5 points in eight games before injuring the shoulder during practice in November. The team held him out for several weeks hoping it would heal. He scored 11 points in a win over Niagara on Nov. 14 and had nine against Chaminade on Nov. 24.
The Panthers (13-6, 3-3 ACC) host No. 10 Louisville (15-3, 3-2) on Sunday.
