COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -South Carolina's athletic director says basketball coach Dave Odom will retire after this season, his eighth with the Gamecocks.
Athletic director Eric Hyman made the announcement Friday during a news conference where Odom also was speaking.
The 65-year-old Odom coached the Gamecocks to the NCAA tournament in 2004 and back-to-back NIT titles the following two years. However, he could not bring South Carolina the same success he had in 12 seasons at Wake Forest.
