ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Bryan Smithson scored 27 points, going perfect on 3-pointers and at the foul line, to lead UNC Asheville to a 74-58 victory Wednesday night.
Smithson, who had 31 points in the Bulldogs last game, was 8-of-12 from the field overall. But he hit all three of his 3s and went 8-of-8 on free throws. Smithson also had seven assists to lead UNC Asheville, which won for the fifth time in its past six games.
7-foot-7 Kenny George was 5-of-6 for 12 points. He also added three blocks in 16 minutes.
High Point (8-7, 1-1 Big South) led 33-27 after Cruz Daniels opened the second half with a dunk. However, the Bulldogs (13-4, 2-0) went on a 28-8 run the next 10 minutes to take control. Smithson had 11 points during the run, which left UNC Asheville ahead 55-41 with 10:08 remaining.
Arizona Reid had 15 points, 15 rebounds and five assists to lead High Point.
