 EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -Ali Farokhmanesh scored 11 points and Kwadzo Ahelegbe added 10 as Northern Iowa beat Evansville 58-47 Tuesday night in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Panthers (11-6, 5-1) held conference-leading scorer Shy Ely to only seven points.
Evansville was led by Nate Garner with 12 points. Kaylon Williams and Denver Holmes chipped in 11 each for the Purple Aces (11-5, 3-3). Williams also had three steals.
Northern Iowa enjoyed an advantage at the free-throw line, where they made 16 of 20 compared with Evansville's 8 of 13.
The Panthers shot 44 percent from the field, while the Purple Aces managed just 33 percent.
Johnny Moran had four steals for Northern Iowa, which led 28-20 at the break.
