HOUSTON (AP) -Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady left Wednesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic with a sore left knee.
McGrady missed 10 of 11 shots and was limping noticeably in the first half. He didn’t come out with his team for the second half. He bruised his left knee in Saturday’s loss to Dallas and went 5-of-18 from the field in that game.
McGrady said it wasn’t his choice to come out of Wednesday’s game.
“Doctors, coaches and trainers saw how I was moving out there and decided to shut me down,” McGrady said. “Playing on one leg like that, when you’re putting so much pressure on that leg, the leg that feels good, there is a chance you can injure that leg. And that basically is why they decided to take me out of the game.”
McGrady missed two games in November because of a strained right elbow. He’s been wearing a protective sleeve since returning. He also left a Dec. 10 game against Philadelphia with a sprained right ankle.
The Rockets play at Denver on Thursday night. Houston coach Rick Adelman wasn’t sure if McGrady would play.
“I have no idea where we go from here on that,” Adelman said. “We haven’t discussed if it will be game to game. He practiced a little bit (Tuesday) and it didn’t seem any better today. I’ll have to listen to what the medical staff says and go from there.”
