PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Elton Brand hit a 15-footer with 57 seconds left and finished with 17 points in his first game against Los Angeles, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to an 89-88 victory over the short-handed Clippers on Friday night.
The Clippers lost shortly after acquiring forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas.
Brand played his first game against the Clippers since signing a five-year deal worth around $80 million in July.
Celtics 95, Timberwolves 78
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - In Kevin Garnett's first game at Target Center since being traded before last season, he scored 17 points to help Boston cruise.
Al Jefferson scored 23 points for the Timberwolves. But he shot just 8-of-20 and the Timberwolves were shooting 23 percent heading into the fourth quarter before finishing at 31 percent.
The Celtics outscored Minnesota 35-10 in the decisive third quarter, with Garnett putting away two alley-oop passes and throwing down two more dunks to the delight of hundreds of fans wearing his No. 5 Celtics jersey and still more sporting his old blue No. 21.

Nets 129, Raptors 127, OT
TORONTO (AP) - Vince Carter scored 39 points against his former team, Devin Harris added 30 and New Jersey rallied from an 18-point, third-quarter deficit to beat Toronto.
Carter sent the game to overtime by draining a 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds remaining in regulation, capping a stretch that saw him score 12 consecutive points for the Nets.
The Raptors lost forward Jermaine O'Neal to a strained his left knee when he was pulled down on a flagrant foul by New Jersey's Sean Williams with 11:37 left in the fourth.
Rockets 103, Wizards 91
WASHINGTON (AP) - Tracy McGrady scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, Yao Ming added 18 to win a battle of awesome wingspans, and Houston added to Washington's misery.
Carl Landry scored 19 points, and Aaron Brooks had 18 for the Rockets, who opened a three-game East Coast trip with their seventh straight win against Washington.
Antawn Jamison scored a season-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wizards, whose 1-9 record is the franchise's worst start since the 1966 Baltimore Bullets opened 1-10. Andray Blatche had a season-high 14 points, and Caron Butler added 12. Washington shot just 3-for-15 from 3-point range.
Magic 100, Pacers 98, OT
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Dwight Howard had 24 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks, and Orlando beat Indiana in overtime.
Howard blocked a potential game-winning shot at the end of regulation, then altered what would have been a game-tying shot in the closing seconds of overtime.
Rashard Lewis scored 23 points for the Magic and made what turned out to be the game-winning basket with 23 seconds left in overtime. Jameer Nelson added 22 points and nine assists in Orlando's fifth straight win.
Marquis Daniels scored 25 points, T.J. Ford had 22 and Danny Granger added 21 for the Pacers.
Spurs 119, Jazz 94
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Roger Mason scored 29 points and San Antonio made 15 of 25 3-pointers.
Playing without the backcourt of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, the Spurs still managed to hit eight of their first nine 3-point attempts.
Rookie George Hill scored a career-high 23 points for San Antonio (6-6) which has won four of its last five.
Tim Duncan added 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes.
Utah (8-5) got 17 points from Ronnie Brewer and 16 from CJ Miles, but the Jazz were without forward Carlos Boozer for the first time this season after he strained his left quadriceps Wednesday against Milwaukee.
Hawks 88, Bobcats 83
ATLANTA (AP) - Joe Johnson scored 30 points, Marvin Williams added 22 and Atlanta pulled away in the closing minutes for a sloppy victory over Charlotte.
Rookie D.J. Augustin led the Bobcats with a career-best 26 points, only to miss a fallaway jumper from the baseline when Charlotte needed it most. Evans then came up with a big hoop for Atlanta, swishing an 18-foot jumper with 1:24 left.
Gerald Wallace, with 17 points, was the only other Charlotte player in double figures. The Bobcats hit only 42 percent (33 of 78) from the field.
