LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles Clippers point guard Baron Davis is sitting out Monday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs because of a sore left knee.
Davis, in the third season of a five-year, $65 million contract, averaged 13.3 points and 5.7 assists during the team’s 0-3 start. Last season, he was one of only six players in the league to average at least 15 points and eight assists. He entered this season averaging 16.7 points and 7.4 assists.
The 12th-year veteran told reporters before gametime that he hoped to be back in the lineup for Wednesday night’s home game against Oklahoma City. Eric Bledsoe will make his first NBA start in his place, because backup point guard Randy Foye is sidelined because of a left hamstring strain that occurred during Saturday’s practice.
