ATLANTA (AP) -The Atlanta Hawks waived forwards Antywane Robinson and Steven Smith and guard Jamaal Tatum on Thursday to reduce their roster to 15 players. But the Hawks, who went 7-1 in the preseason, still have questions about their opening day roster. Guard Speedy Claxton played in only two preseason games and is out indefinitely with a sore right knee. Claxton missed 36 games last season after signing a four-year, $25.5 million deal and then had offseason surgery on his left knee. The new injury comes as rookie point guard Acie Law IV has missed time in the preseason with a wrist injury. With Thursday's cuts, former Georgia Tech guard Mario West appears to have won a roster spot. West averaged only 2.9 points in the preseason but impressed the coaches with his hustle and versatility. |
