MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Minnesota Timberwolves say center Mark Blount can skip training camp and the preseason, and his agent can seek a roster spot with a different team.
The Wolves made the announcement Wednesday, saying Blount will stay at his home in Miami while agent Mark Bartelstein looks for a better opportunity for playing time.
Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn says because Minnesota has a young team and many players that need time on the court for their development, it would be “difficult to find a significant role for Mark.”
The Timberwolves acquired the 7-foot Blount from Miami on Aug. 13. He has appeared in 605 career games over his nine-year career. He has career averages of 8.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
