WASHINGTON (AP) -Washington Wizards forward Andray Blatche, a restricted free agent, was arrested Thursday on sexual solicitation charges.
Blatche and a man identified in court documents as Gregory Palmer tried to solicit sex from an undercover police officer, according to charging documents.
The 20-year-old Blatche appeared Thursday in District of Columbia Superior Court, court spokeswoman Marie Robertson said. He also was wanted for failure to appear on a charge of driving without a license, stemming from an October 2006 arrest, according to court documents.
“We are aware of this matter involving Andray,” Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering all the information and will continue to monitor this situation.”
Drafted in the second round out of high school, Blatche missed the 2005 training camp after he was shot in a carjacking attempt near his Alexandria, Va., home. He split time in the 2005-06 season between the Wizards and Roanoke of the NBA Development League.
In 2006-07, he averaged 3.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 56 regular-season games.
