MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired swingman Rodney Carney, center Calvin Booth, a protected first-round draft pick and cash from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for a conditional second-round pick Wednesday.
The Timberwolves used a $2.8 million trade exemption gained from a trade last December with Miami to make the finances match up.
Booth has one year left on his contract and it is unlikely he will stay in Minnesota. Carney has one year left plus a team option for 2009-10.
Wednesday was the first day teams were allowed to sign free agents.
