PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired the rights to Jake Layman out of Maryland, who was selected by the Magic with the 47th pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night.
The Blazers sent a future second-round pick and cash considerations to Orlando in exchange for the 6-foot-9 forward. Yahoo! Sports reported that Orlando received $1.2 million and a second-round selection in the 2019 draft.
As a senior, Layman averaged 11.8 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Terrapins, who finished 27-9 and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2003. His career averages over four seasons at Maryland were 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds.
He finished his career with 1,436 points and 674 rebounds, joining only 11 players in school history with more than 1,400 points and 600 rebounds.
