EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -Coach Phil Jackson says it’s tough for the Lakers to prepare defensively to face the Phoenix Suns because his players can’t pick up the ball and run with it in practice the way Steve Nash does during games.
Jackson grinned while he poked at the two-time MVP’s ball-handling style after Friday’s practice for the series, which begins Monday in Los Angeles.
Although the 10-time NBA champion coach has ample respect for the 36-year-old Nash’s skills, Jackson’s comment suggested he believes the point guard gets generous treatment from officials.
Other players and coaches have suggested a similar belief over the years, though Nash is hardly the only NBA player who draws such complaints from opponents.
