MIAMI (AP) -Even to the surprise of his coach, Atlanta forward Marvin Williams may be ready to play again.
Williams was on the Hawks’ active roster for Game 6 of their Eastern Conference first-round series against the Miami Heat on Friday night – even though Atlanta coach Mike Woodson declared him out earlier in the day.
Williams sprained his right wrist in Game 2 of the series, missed the next three games, and the Hawks were bracing to be without their small forward for the remainder of the series.
“He started to shoot this morning,” Woodson said Friday night. “I wasn’t expecting him back at all.”
tes before tip-off of Game 6, and was included on the roster Atlanta submitted shortly thereafter. The Hawks did not immediately announce their starting lineup; Woodson said he was still deliberating when he arrived at the arena.
Forward Al Horford was also on Atlanta’s active roster, although he, too, was declared out in the morning by Woodson because of a sprained right ankle suffered in Game 5.
