INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) -Leon Powe is close to returning to the Cavaliers and Mo Williams isn’t far behind, meaning reinforcements are on the way even if Cleveland doesn’t make a trade before Thursday’s deadline.
Powe has been recovering from summer knee surgery and participated in a full practice Wednesday. He says the training staff will meet before Thursday’s game against Denver to decide whether he can play. Williams may need longer, tweeting that he was a little rusty at practice and will need another few days.
The Cavaliers continue to be linked to Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire and Washington’s Antawn Jamison as possible trade targets. Happy Walters, Stoudemire’s agent, expects the All-Star power forward to be traded, with Cleveland and Miami the most likely destinations.
