CLEVELAND (AP) - Clippers guard Chauncey Billups says he won't let his season-ending injury also finish his NBA career.
Billups tore his left Achilles tendon on Monday night, ending his first season with Los Angeles. He said the injury has left him ``deflated'' but he's confident the Clippers will be able to survive without him and can still have ``a special season.''
After surgery, which has not yet been scheduled, Billups said he plans to stay around the Clippers to help them any way he can.
The 35-year-old Billups will need eight months to recover from the injury, which will also cost him a chance to play on the U.S. Olympic team this summer.
Billups said his career is not over and he ``will go out on my own. I will be back.''
