WASHINGTON (AP) -Ted Leonsis says he offered “one of the highest prices ever paid for an NBA team” for the Washington Wizards – but that wasn’t enough to satisfy the family of late owner Abe Pollin.
The AOL executive wrote on his blog Thursday that he’s “very confident” he will be the next owner of the Wizards, even though there’s a disagreement over how the sale process works.
A person involved in the process says Leonsis and Pollin’s family were “several hundred million dollars” apart in initial negotiations. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the delicate state of the talks.
The two sides are in an appraisal process. However, the Pollin family feels it can go ahead and contact other potential buyers.
