OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Golden State guard Troy Hudson will be out for the season after undergoing surgery on his left hip.
Hudson played in just nine games after signing with the Warriors in September. A torn labrum prevented him from being Baron Davis' veteran backup at point guard, and Hudson underwent surgery to repair his hip joint Thursday in New York City.
The longtime Minnesota guard hasn't played since Dec. 12, and coach Don Nelson said last month that Hudson's career might be over because of the chronic injury. But Hudson said he hopes to play again after his recovery, which could take the rest of the season.
``It doesn't make it easier to have our backup point guard out for the year,'' Nelson said. ``So we're going to have to find that guy somewhere in the locker room.''
CJ Watson, a top guard in the NBA Development League, was scheduled to make his NBA debut with the Warriors on Friday night in his audition for the backup job behind Davis.
